I Just Can’t Leave
written by Jake Stilson
I left my childhood home out in the country
Left the path of least resistance down in New Orleans
Left a campfire in the hills of Old Kentucky
But when it comes to you I just can’t leave
I left a Les Paul in the Smokies at a pawn shop on the state line
I got a room and a couple of bottles to kill a little time
I left an amplifier in Murfreesboro with a dude that never paid
I left a few friends and a pool cue too all along the way
But when it comes to you I just can’t leave
No matter what the circumstantial evidence may be
I can reroute the river or empty the whole sea
But when it comes to you I just can’t leave
We’re all just the sum of all the things we’ve done
On a rock spinning through space
In time around the sun
And when it comes to you I just can’t leave
No matter what the circumstantial evidence may be
I can reroute the river or empty the whole sea
But when it comes to you I just can’t leave
